Just a two-hour drive from the heart of Dubai, Snoopy Island; Sandy Beach Hotel & Resort in Fujairah offers the perfect escape for anyone looking to unwind for a weekend. Friday: Arrival and Poolside Relaxation
Thursday evening, we made sure the car was packed and ready to go, so we could head straight from work on Friday after our half-day (for those who don’t know, we finish at 12 p.m. on Fridays). We had booked a chalet at Sandy Beach Hotel that sleeps four people, with the option to fit more using the sofa bed—perfect for our group. There are plenty of other accommodation options available as well, catering to both larger and smaller groups.
The chalet was equipped with a microwave, BBQ, fridge, and freezer, so we came well-prepared with cooler boxes packed for the weekend. The drive from Dubai is gorgeous, and by the time we arrived, our chalet was ready so check-in was seamless. After unpacking the car, we headed straight to the pool to kick off our weekend. The swim-up bar, accompanied by upbeat music, made for a perfect, relaxing afternoon.
That evening, we had a BBQ at our chalet. A top tip: if there’s more than four people, I recommend bringing some extra disposable BBQs, as the built-in ones could use an upgrade. You can buy coals from the hotel, but since we’d been here before, we brought our own. We were joined by more friends who were staying in the hotel apartments, making it a fun group evening. Another tip: bring extra cutlery, glasses and plates, or opt for disposable ones, especially when hosting larger groups. We played cards, listened to music, and had a fantastic evening.
Saturday: Poolside Bliss and Snorkeling Adventures
Saturday was a full day of relaxation—pool time, drinks, snorkeling, and lounging around. If you’re into snorkeling, definitely bring your own gear, though you can rent or buy it from the shop on-site. Snoopy island and the reef is just a short swim from the shore, and while we didn’t spot any turtles this time, they’re commonly seen. We saw plenty of colorful fish, which made the experience amazing. For dinner, we were having BBQ again.

- Don’t miss the mojitos from the swim up bar!
- Bring your own snorkeling gear.

Sunday: A Relaxing Morning and a Thrill Ride
Sunday, our checkout day, we took it slow in the morning, enjoying leftover sausage sandwiches for breakfast, along with some fruit, granola and yoghurt we’d packed. Before heading back to Dubai, we had a thrilling ride on the banana boats—an absolute must if you’re up for some excitement. Additionally, we asked for late checkout which meant we could shower before getting in the car for the drive back. If you wanted to leave later there are also public showers that you can use.
Snoopy Island is the perfect weekend escape from Dubai, offering relaxation and adventure in a stunning setting. You really feel like you’re on a mini-holiday. We’ll definitely be back!
